Computational Cameras

چکیده
COMPUTATIONAL CAMERAS At Columbia University’s Computer Vision Laboratory, we have developed several types of computational cameras. As the “Related Research” sidebar describes, several research groups around the world are working on the development of computational cameras and related technologies. Imaging can be viewed as having several dimensions, including spatial resolution, temporal resolution, spectral resolution, field of view, dynamic range, and depth. Each of the cameras presented here can be viewed as exploring one of these dimensions.

Computational Photography: Coded Exposure and Coded Aperture Imaging
The emerging field of computational photography is exploring the possibilities of digital photography beyond the imitation of film cameras. Novel illumination, optics, sensors, and processing methods are employed to expand the set of images that cameras can create. This thesis introduces the field of computational photography and presents two exemplary techniques that address the problem of blu...

2 DEFINING MULTI-PERSPECTIVE CAMERAS In this section, we describe in more detail how multiple pin-hole cameras along with a few 3D planes, which we call dolly planes, could be combined to form a single multi-perspective camera. To achieve this, multiple pin-hole cameras are rst transformed using plane-induced homographies before they are merged to de ne a multi-perspective camera. We will rst d...
متن کاملFCam for Multiple Cameras
The Frankencamera (FCam) architecture and API enables precise control over the camera in computational photography applications. We present an extension to FCam API for systems equipped with multiple cameras. The proposed extension allows for an enumeration of cameras and their corresponding properties, such as position or orientation. In addition, we explicitly support camera synchronization, ...
متن کاملPose estimation from multiple cameras based on Sylvester's equation
In this paper, we introduce a method to estimate the object’s pose from multiple cameras. We focus on direct estimation of the 3D object pose from 2D image sequences. Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) is used to extract corresponding feature points from adjacent images in the video sequence. We first demonstrate that centralized pose estimation from the collection of corresponding featur...
متن کاملParametrizable Cameras for 3d Computational Steering Parametrizable Cameras for 3d Computational Steering
We present a method for the de nition of multiple views in 3D interfaces for computational steering. The method uses the concept of a point-based parametrizable camera object. This concept enables a user to create and con gure multiple views on his custom 3D interface in an intuitive graphical manner. Each view can be coupled to objects present in the interface, parametrized to (simulation) dat...
